Privacy Policy for scraib (macOS)

Overview

scraib rewrites selected text using AI. We designed it to minimize data collection and keep your content private.

What We Process

• Clipboard text you select and rewrite (only when you invoke the feature).
• Configuration you set (provider choice, model, custom instructions).
• Subscription status and related billing metadata (if you subscribe).

What We Don’t Collect

• We do not continuously monitor your clipboard.
• We do not sell your data.
• We do not use third‑party advertising or tracking SDKs.

How Text Is Handled

On invocation, scraib simulates copy/paste (with your Accessibility permission) to obtain the selected text.

The text is sent to your chosen AI endpoint:

• If you use your own API keys: sent directly to that provider (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, OpenRouter, LiteLLM, or a local Ollama server).

We do not store the content of your text on scraib servers. Your selected AI provider may process/retain text per their policies.

Metadata We May Collect

When purchasing via the Mac App Store, Apple processes payment; we receive entitlement status, not your full payment details.

Accessibility Permission

Required solely to post copy/paste keystrokes system‑wide so scraib can grab your selection and paste the rewritten text back. No keylogging.

Your Choices

• Use a local provider (e.g., Ollama) to keep all text on‑device.
• Use your own API keys to send text directly to your selected provider.
• Use scraib‑provided AI for a managed setup; only usage metadata is stored by scraib.
• Revoke Accessibility permission at any time (core rewrite shortcut will not function without it).

Data Retention

Account/billing and usage metadata: retained as long as necessary for service delivery, security, and legal obligations.

You may request deletion of your scraib account data; we will also instruct our processors to delete where applicable.

Security

• Transport encryption (TLS) for all network communications.
• Principle of least privilege in app sandboxing and server access.

Children’s Privacy

Not directed to children. Do not use if you are under the age required by your jurisdiction without parental consent.

International Transfers

Depending on your location and chosen AI provider, processing may occur in other countries with different data protection laws.

Third‑Party Providers

• AI providers (as selected by you).
• Payment and subscription processors (Apple for App Store purchases; Stripe or equivalent for scraib‑hosted billing, if used).

These providers process data under their own privacy policies.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted in‑app or on our website with a new effective date.
